movement and contact-improvisation
After studying pedagogy in Dortmund, Monika graduated with a Peformance Artist degree in New Dance from the Amsterdam Hoogschool van de Kunsten.
She teaches movement at the Theater School in Utrecht, and contact improvisation at the Theater School Amsterdam and at contact festivals throughout Europe and abroad.
Monika is a longtime student of Indonesian movement and meditation master Suprapto Suryodarmo (founder of Amerta Movement), as well as a practicing Buddhist and member of the Ridhwan School.
Today, Monika melds her various background experiences in her work as a movement teacher, shiatsu therapist and shiatsu teacher.
Her style of shiatsu is dynamic and gentle, while her dance-teaching encourages physical awareness, creative expression and body-mind integration.
Both shiatsu and dance offer an opportunity for the soul to land in the body, for the body to relax and soften, and for the mind to become more friendly to ourself.
